Its all about MINECRAFT here ;-)

World Styles

The most requested world styles beside the normal World with average Biomes like default are:
Big Island World, Isle In Isle World, Big mainland World, Floating World (see the bottom of this page for a nice example too) and Cave World.

Lets see how to create this different world styles:

If You start Your server the first time with TC in the plugins folder, the default config files will be created.
As I have told on the “Basics” page, use always my seed. In that case, You wait until the map has build up and use the /tc map command in game.
An image of the biome and temperature distribution can be found now in the root folder of Your server.
It will look like this:

All the default biomes have been created in this default world.

The main biomes are the ones which are listed in the worldConfig.ini at:
NormalBiomes:

If You want to have some additional custom biomes, there are two ways to get this:
Type its name in the line:
CustomBiomes:
and restart the server. An additional config file will be created.

The second possible way to add a custom biome is, to copy an existing one, rename it to the custom biomes name and change its settings to the one You want this biome to have.

Which values will give You which biomes, shall be explained a little in the following examples of some world styles.

Lets start with an extreme world style which is easy to create:
The cave world

................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
1. To create a cave style world, You have to change as the first step only one value in each biomeConfig.ini:
DisableBiomeHeight:  => default is : false.
Change this to: true

To get an even better look, we additional change some values in worldConfig.ini too:
WaterLevelMax:7
WaterLevelMin:0
WaterBlock:12
FlatBedrock:true

This will lower the ground and exchange the water with sand at the floor and makes the bedrock foundation flat.
That is it. If You restart Your server, You will see this kind of world:

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

2. To create a floating style world, You have to first change the custom height values in each biomeConfig.ini:
Example:
CustomHeightControl:
0.0,0.0,-1000.0,-2500.0,-2500.0,-2500.0,-500.0,0.0,0.0,0.0,-3000.0,-3000.0,0.0,-10.0,-200.0,-2500.0,-3000.0,-1500.0,0.0,-200.0,-4500.0,-200.0,-500.0,-2500.0,-3000.0,-50.0,-20.0,250.0,500.0,-1500.0,-2500.0,500.0,-200.0

This 17 double entries, each controls of about 7 blocks height from down. Positive entry = better chance of spawn blocks, negative = smaller.
This means, if You want at a certain height level being air, use negative values and vice versa.

To get some reasonable high landmass building up, You need to set the height of the biomes, which are listed next to normaleBiomes (in worldConfig.ini), to a positive value.
Try this values to get landmass next to the limit of 256 height:

BiomeHeight:3.3
BiomeVolatility:0.2
MaxAverageHeight:-0.4
MaxAverageDepth:-0.5
Volatility1:0.35
Volatility2:0.65
VolatilityWeight1:0.5
VolatilityWeight2:0.45

Adjust all biomes You want to be floating ones and which are listed at normaleBiomes to this values.
To keep some of the flat “normale” biomes, adjust it to normale height values like -2.5 if using level 8 at worldConfig.ini.

That is it. If You restart Your server, You will see this kind of world:

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
3. To create a big mainland style world, You have to first change some values in worldConfig.ini:

GenerationDepth:10
BiomeRarityScale:100
LandRarity:98
LandSize:0
LandFuzzy:0

At normaleBiomes put in the names of the biomes, the big continent shall be composted of.
Set it´s values to:
BiomeSize:4
BiomeRarity:98

A little adjusting to Your personal taste should be made, my values here are only a guideline.

That is it. If You restart Your server, You will see this kind of world:

This world consits of “only” one normalBiome (dark yellow), one IslandBiome (light yellow), RiversBiome (light blue) and OceanBiome (dark blue).

The IsleBiome (light yellow) has this values:

BiomeSize:7
BiomeRarity:95
IsleInBiome:
(the name of the biome at normaleBiomes)

The normaleBiome (dark yellow) has this values:

BiomeSize:4
BiomeRarity:98

The same values are used at the oceanBiome too.

At the RiversBiome use this:

BiomeSize:8
BiomeRarity:95

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
4. To create a big island style world, You have to first change some values in worldConfig.ini:

GenerationDepth:13
BiomeRarityScale:50
LandRarity:95
LandSize:6
LandFuzzy:0

At normaleBiomes put in the names of the biomes, the big continent shall be composted of.
Set it´s values to:
BiomeSize:4
BiomeRarity:98

NormalBiomes:Jungle

BorderBiomes:Beach

The JungleBiome should get this values:

BiomeSize:6
BiomeRarity:45

The BeachBiome should get this values:

BiomeSize:8
BiomeRarity:50
BiomeIsBorder:Ocean

A little adjusting to Your personal taste should be made, my values here are only a guideline.

That is it. If You restart Your server, You will see this kind of world:

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
5. To create a Isle in Isle style world, the most advanced style, You have to frist change some values in worldConfig.ini:

GenerationDepth:10
BiomeRarityScale:100
LandRarity:99
LandSize:1
LandFuzzy:0
IceRarity:1
IceSize:3
FrozenRivers:false
FrozenOcean:false
RiverRarity:3
RiverSize:2
RiversEnabled:true
NormalBiomes:Savanna,Wetlands,Extreme Hills,Desert
IceBiomes:
IsleBiomes:Rainforest,Urwald
BorderBiomes:Mangrove
CustomBiomes:Rainforest,Mangrove,Savanna,Wetlands,Urwald

At normaleBiomes set the values in Savanna to:

BiomeSize:5
BiomeRarity:35
BiomeRivers:false
NotBorderNear:Rainforest,Ocean

At normaleBiomes set the values in Wetlands to:

BiomeSize:3
BiomeRarity:100
BiomeRivers:true
BiomeIsBorder:Savanna
NotBorderNear:Desert

At normaleBiomes set the values in Extreme Hills to:

BiomeSize:6
BiomeRarity:6
BiomeRivers:false
IsleInBiome:Wetlands
NotBorderNear:Savanna

At normaleBiomes set the values in Desert to:

BiomeSize:6
BiomeRarity:35
BiomeRivers:false

At IsleBiomes set the values in Urwald to:

BiomeSize:7
BiomeRarity:100
BiomeRivers:true
IsleInBiome:Rainforest

At IsleBiomes set the values in Rainforest to:

BiomeSize:5
BiomeRarity:100
BiomeRivers:true
IsleInBiome:Wetlands
NotBorderNear:Desert,Savanna

At BorderBiomes set the values in Mangrove to:

BiomeSize:6
BiomeRarity:100
BiomeRivers:false
BiomeIsBorder:Ocean
NotBorderNear:Desert

A little adjusting to Your personal taste should be made, my values here are only a guideline.
But be very careful, this “Isle in Isle” setup is very sensitive to adjustments. Always work only with a copy and always change only one value at a time!

That is it. If You restart Your server, You will see this kind of world:

The right image shows only the theory behind this “Isle in Isle” style.
This image has nothing to do with the world setup described above!

Just look at it as a simpler to understand example of the dependencies of this world style.

6. Very often people are asking about creating a totally floating biome with nice invisible transitions between the next biome(s) in a world with all other biomes being “normal” ones.

This is made by a 2. (custom) Ocean Biome, carefully matched by its values as an Island in the default Ocean and with smooth border-transitions of both.
The exact values to get this depend at the style of the world (level 7 or 8 and so on). It is simplified a reduction of landmass by using CustomHeightControl to get the border of both ocean biomes smoothed out and bigger positive BiomeVolatility values to get it flying.

An other special biome in this world is an Oasis Biome, created as Isles in the Desert Biome(s). See some screenshots of the scenery:

Have fun to create Your own style of world now. I hope I could guide You a little deeper in the possibilities of the ingenious TerrainControl Mod made by Khoorn.
